چکیده

The use of antibiotics in veterinary and human treatment can cause the development antibiotic resistance bacteria for β-lactam antibiotics. Worldwide, this has become a growing concern public health. Limited data are currently available regarding Extended Spectrum β-Lactamase (ESBL) Escherichia coli Indonesia. current study determined prevalence characteristics ESBL genes E. retail chicken meat humans Two hundred eighty were randomly collected from various modern traditional markets Jakarta (70 sourced 210 markets). sold at was 97.14%, which significantly higher than those with 78.57 % (P < 0.05). ESBL-producing isolated market 40.47% 35.71 38.09 %, is clinical sample (with average 5.57 %). most predominant gene blaTEM 54.54 as single or mixed other followed by blaCTX-M 44.31 blaSHV only found three isolates 1.13 %. This that both broiler samples having same molecular characteristics. It speculated there relationship between them. However, needs to be substantiated further.

Prevalence and characteristics of extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli in domestic and imported chicken meats in Japan

The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli (ESBL-Ec) in retail chicken meats in Japan. Fifty-six domestic and 50 imported (Brazil, n=36; United States, n=8; Thailand, n=6) chicken meat samples were analyzed. The 162 ESBL-Ec included 111 from 43 (77%) domestic samples and 51 from 26 (52%) Brazilian samples. Fifty...

Prevalence and Molecular Characteristics of Extended-Spectrum β-Lactamase Genes in Escherichia coli Isolated from Diarrheic Patients in China

Background: The emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance has become a major global public health concern. A component element of this is the spread of the plasmid-encoded extended-spectrum b-lactamase (ESBL) genes, conferring resistance to third-generation cephalosporins. The purpose of this study was to investigate the molecular characteristics of ESBL-encoding genes identified in Esch...

Extended-Spectrum β-Lactamase Genes of Escherichia coli in Chicken Meat and Humans, the Netherlands

We determined the prevalence and characteristics of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) genes of Enterobacteriaceae in retail chicken meat and humans in the Netherlands. Raw meat samples were obtained, and simultaneous cross-sectional surveys of fecal carriage were performed in 4 hospitals in the same area. Human blood cultures from these hospitals that contained ESBL genes were included. A hi...

Prevalence and Antimicrobial Resistance of E. Coli Isolated from Chicken Liver Sold in Retail Markets

The objective of this study was to estimate the prevalence and the antimicrobial resistance of E. coli that contaminates raw chicken liver as one of the most popular poultry sub-product sold in retail markets. Two hundred and forty samples of fresh raw chicken liver were obtained from national poultry producers in different retail marketing sites and tested for the presence of E. coli. One hund...

Risk factors and spatial distribution of extended spectrum β-lactamase-producing- Escherichia coli at retail poultry meat markets in Malaysia: a cross-sectional study

BACKGROUND The significant role of retail poultry meat as an important exposure pathway for the acquisition and transmission of extended spectrum β-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli (ESBL-EC) into the human population warrants understanding concerning those operational practices associated with dissemination of ESBL-EC in poultry meat retailing. Hence, the objective of this study was to dete...
